The Six Races of Humankind

It is widely conjectured that in the dawning of creation, when the first human beings appeared on Hyerune, there was but one form of physical appearance. This was during the time of the Age of Dragons when the demihumans had already firmly established themselves throughout the world.

These earliest humans had an insatiable need for adventure, wanderlust and exploration and so soon began to break off into subcultures as they started to branch out and explore their world. Eventually, they covered the entire globe as their population grew.

Over the course of thousands of years, each subculture of humanity adapted to their new environment and thrived developing subtle physical difference but all sharing the same genetic blueprint and set of characteristics. For game purposes, all races of humankind use the same D&D Game statistics under the setting for "Human" in the Players Handbook even though their is some diversity in the physical appearance.

In modern-day Hyerune, the various races of humanity have mingled and intermarried for many generations and therefore there are few "pure" standards of each racial classification though typically human beings will declare themselves a member of a specific race.

Aldari- The Aldari typically have light skin and dark hair. Their eye color ranges from brown to blue with green and hazel being somewhat rare. Males average 5'10" in height while females average 5'6". They are fond of loose fitting cotton clothing dyed in various earth tones. Their homes are the typical simple wattle and daub structures with thatched roofs. The more wealthy Aldarians use wood or stone as building materials. The Aldari are mainly found on the Central and Southern portions of the continent of Aldaria. Their wizards favor more practical magic as well as magic geared for combat and protection.

Filani- The Filani typically have very light skin with blonde to light brown hair and light color eyes with blue being the most common. Males average 6' in height and females average 5'8" making them the tallest of the humans in general. Since they generally dwell in more northern climates, their clothing consists of heavy cotton lined with furs. The textiles are often dyed in various shades of brown, tan, blue or white. Filani homes are generally made from wood in the shape of long, low row houses with a common hearth and a covered doorway. Larger homes are made of stone. Filani are generally found in the Northeastern regions of the continent of Aldaria. As a whole, the Filani generally do not trust arcane magic. Divine magic and bardic spellcraft is often acceptable. Those Filani that do pursue the art of wizardry and sorcery tend to favor a more holistic approach to magic with a concentration in divination and protection.

Huan- The Huan typically have straight black hair, inner eyefolds with dark eye color, extra pads of fat tissue over their cheekbones with light brown color skin. They are typically short in stature with males averaging 5'6" in height and females averaging 5'2". Homes are often simple structres of wood and straw that follow simple lines and often have open areas. Many Huanese follow very basic concepts of geomancy with a strong attunement to natural ways. Their clothing is typically made of cotton and silk dyed in a variety of bright colors. Embroidery is also very common. THe Huan are generally found in the far eastern regions of the continent of Dawynia. Their wizards tend to favor a very naturalistic approach and focus on earth and nature magic with divination and enchantments also being rather common.

Jendi- The Jendi typically have light to dark brown skin coloration with black hair and dark eyes. Males average 5'8" in height and females average 5'4". Many favor clothing of silk and light cotton and linen dyed with bright colors. Their homes are typically made from clay brick or stone. Many buildings have open air porticos and are topped with onion domes and minarets. The Jendi are generally found along the Western regions of the continent of Dawynia from Shafaria in the South to Brynthia in the North. Their wizards favor elemental and conjuration magic. They also have a great affinity to the various genie races.

Sundari- The Sundari are the smallest culture of humanity found in the regions around Bengalia and Jharsol. They typically have light brown to dark brown complexion with dark hair and dark eyes. Males average 5'8" in height and females average 5'4". The Sundari favor clothing of loose fitting silks, cottons and linens dyed in bright primary colors. They more wealthy tend to further enhance their clothing with intricate embroidery using gold threads. Their homes are generally made of clay or wood with stone being not uncommon. Their wizards favor magic that focuses on the human condition with divination, enchantment and necromancy being the most common.

Zentradi- The Zentradi typically have light brown to dark brown skin in curly dark hair and dark eyes. Males average 5'10" in height and females average 5'6". They tend to wear clothing of linen or flax dyed in various earth tones or brighter colors. Many are embroidered in beautiful patterns. Their homes are generally made of a mixture of mud and clay and shaped into domes with a central fire. The use of marble and other stones are also common near mountainous regions. The Zentradi are generally found throughout the Southern continent of Sahelia. Their wizards tend to favor stronger, less subtle forms of magic with conjuration, evocation, necromancy and transmutation being the most common.
