Catfolk

The catfolk are a race of feline humanoids. They walk on two legs and have bodies similar to humans but have cat-like heads, tails and claws like a cat. Several subspecies of catfolk exist as well and can be distinguished by the color of their hair which covers their entire bodies.

Personality: Most catfolk are agressive hunters that excel at stalking their prey in almost complete silence. They can also be playful when not engaged in combat but are very protective of their territorial hunting grounds.

Physical Descriptions: Catfolk are about the same height as the average human yet tend to have slimmer, most muscular builds. Their ears protrude from the tops of their heads rather than from the sides and they have long, thin tails. Their hands are similar to humans allowing them to grip objects but they also possess sharp claws. Catfolk are covered with a layer of fur that varies in color based on the subspecies. Pantherfolk have jet black fur. Cheetahfolk have golden colored fur covered with small brown spots that run down their temples and along their backs. Lynxfolk have soft gray colored fur, slightly thicker than others of their kind. Tigerfolk have orange colored fur covered with black stripes.

Relations: Catfolk tend to be somewhat aloof when dealing with other races. Even amongst their own kind, the catfolk tend to remain separated by subspecies though they have been known to mingle on rare occasions. Catfolk consider the wood elves to be close allies while the forest gnome and savage elf are thought of in friendly terms. All other races are treated fairly and evenly but can possibly be best described as neutral.

Alignment: Catfolk are usually neutral in their outlook with most following the path of true neutrality. However, tribes of neutral good and even neutral evil catfolk are not uncommon as are chaotic neutrals. Very few catfolk are ever lawful in nature.

Habitats: Catfolk live in many climates throughout Hyerune but generally prefer heavy forest regions. The panther and tiger subspecies prefer tropical jungle environments in the southern regions while lynx prefer the colder northern woodlands. The cheetah are often found in the more open savannahs.

Religion: The catfolk worship a number of deities but most pay homage to Jaro, the god of beasts or his daughter the cat goddess.

Languages: Catfolk speak their own bestial language as well as the Common tongue.
