The small Principality of Paragon is a landlocked nation caught between powerful enemies. Paragon was long an ally to the Emperor of Meridia but was swayed (some say coerced) during the Sundering War to join the alliance with Westorlin, Sutherlin and Faridune. In doing so, Paragon turned its back on the Empire thus earning great enmity from Meridia. The small realm must now rely on its new allies even more simply to secure its borders along the imperial front.
The Duke of Westorlin, more than anyone, realizes that the lands of the principality are the only buffer zone between the ducal lands and the imperial forces. He therefore gives great attention to the Princes of Paragon as well as military support. The current sovereign, Princess Nina, a scion of a minor branch of the Imperial House, came to the throne rather unexpectantly following the abdication of her uncle and the untimely death of her beloved father Prince Pan.
The Princess and her noble counselors have much work to do over the coming months. First and foremost is the security of their realm given its close proximity to the Imperial lands on the other side of the Greatwater River. The Princess has entered her nation into the new alliance known as the Valourous League, along with the Duke of Westorlin, the Duchess of Sutherlin and the Baron of Faridune. She hopes to use her position in this alliance to secure her borders and has even entertained thoughts of hiring mercenary troops for support since many of her forces had been slain over the course of the war.
