Njordlin is a powerful Filani kingdom of warriors, knights and barbarians who defend their lands from the numberous giant incursions that seem to continually plague their lands. The realm was once a conglomeration of many petty kingdoms that were eventually united under the control of a powerful and charismatic prince of the land in the early 4th century. The prince forced the other nobles to declare him king and forced them to swear an oath of loyalty to the crown. Under the leadership of various royal houses over the ages, the land has proven quite fertile and capable of sustaining a growing population.

The court of the current queen is known for its many talented Royal Bards. The monarch is also advised by an Assembly of leading citizens known as the "Skoring." The members of the Skoring are mainly wealthy landowners and merchants who propose legislation for the monarch to consider.

Njordlin is also the home of a mysterious cabal of spellcasters known as the Lords of Pure Incantations. This group of wizards and sorcerers have substantial political connections but their true goals are widely unknown. They are generally respected by the populace but also somewhat feared.

Rumors: A growing cult dedicated to the goddess Jocasta was been making a name for itself throughout the city of Thorkell. The cult includes a number of powerful barbarians and evil clerics. Problems from the giants of the nearby mountains are a continuous problem to the population.
