The Mitre of St. Brannoc

Whether this sacred headpiece was indeed worn by the patron saint of spiritual journeys is unclea but it is generally attributed to him by his followers. Certainly the object's powers as a relic testify to this belief. Legends tell that the mitre's existance and location was first revealed to the god's high priest in a series of waking dreams. Once unearthed, it was kept in the temple at Glorisol in the Kingdom of Valoria until it was reported stolen by a person, or persons, unknown.

The Mitre of St. Brannoc resembles a tall, bishop's cap. It is tall, pointed, folded cap of velvet as white as snow. The mitre has gold thread edging with an inner living of red silk. It is also embroidered with a number of holy symbols of the demigod. The relic is known to be aligned Lawful good and any evil being that dares to touch it suffers 2d10 points of holy damage for each round that it is touched. Neutral beings suffer no ill effects. Whenever a being of good alignment places the mitre on their head, the true benefits of the relic become known.

Side Effects: In time, the relic will slowly affect the wearer. After one months time, the wearer gains a permanent +1 bonus to Charisma. After two months of wear, the wearer begins to feel the tinge of wanderlust. He or she will start to question the meaning of existance and become more philosophical and otherworldly. After one years time, the owner of the relic will seek to find a life of pure transcendence. This will begin by a desire to give away all material possessions. Shortly thereafter, the wearer will be compelled to begin a spiritual journey to some remote shrine or monastery. This life of seclusion will be followed for a period of time equal to 20 years minus half of the wearer's wisdom score.
