The Warbull of Keridwen

The Warbull was a great machine of war constructed centuries ago using complex arcana by the powerful wizardesses of Keridwen known as the Matriarchs of Darkspire. The Matriarchs are a magical sisterhood devoted to the protection of Castle Darkspire, an ancient and mystious citadel north of Highcrest said to contain the secrets of the ancients. Though the whereabouts of the Warbull is unknown, the magical sisterhood is still active to this day.

During the later 5th century of the New Age, an evil warlord known as Heremod the Hexhammer led his band of brigands into Keridwen in an attempt to lay seige upon Darkspire and assault the citadel. It was well known that Heremod was protected by powerful enchantments that made him highly resistant to magic. The Matriarchs therefore prepared for this climatic battle by crafted a mechanical beast that could be sent out onto the field and engage the enemy in a physical confrontation rather than a magical assault. The Warbull was designed to defend the stronghold against the Hexhammer's tyranny. The epic battles between the Matriarchs and Heremod are legendary and are favority tales told by the bards of Keridwen.

The Warbull is an incredibly sophisticated piece of engineering and takes the appearance of a massively built dire bull. The construct appears to have been made from an unknown metal, though most sages believe it to have been crafted from duranium, a most rare substance indeed. The construct, when activated, could breathe out clouds of stem from its nostrils and its crystalline eyes would glow a bright amber almost as if it were alive. The artifact was said to obey the verbal commands of any of the Matriarchs and was highly resistant to physical weaponry.

The Warbull has the following statistics:

Large Construct; HD 18d8+60 (150 hp); Init +0; Spd 40 ft (8 squares); AC 25 (-1 size, +26 Natural), touch 9, flat-footed 25; BA +5; Grp +17; Atk Gore +12 melee (1d8+12); Full Atk Gore +12 melee (1d8+12); Space/Reach 10 ft/5 ft; SA Breath weapon, trample; SQ Construct traits, DR 15/magic, darkvision 60 ft, SR 90, regeneration 5; SV Fort +8, Ref +5, Will +8; Str 27, Dex 10, Con -, Int -, Wis 13, Cha 1; Skills -, Feats -, Align Neutral.

The Warbull is an ancient artifact made of duranium plates fashioned together and then enchanted into the form of a great dire bull. The artifact is 12 fett in length and stands 10 feet in height from hoof to shoulder. The artifact weighs roughly 3,000 pounds.

Combat
When activated and then commanded, the Warbull will charge its opponent(s) trying to rip the target open with its horns and trampling those that get in its way.

Breath Weapon (Su): 10-foot cube, cloud of scalding steam lasting 1 round, free action once every 7 rounds, damage 18d6 fire, Reflex DC 21 for half. The save DC is Dexterity-based.
Construct Traits: Immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns and morale effects), immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, stunning, disease, death effects and necromancy effects, can repair itself through regeneration, not subject to critical hits, ability damage, ability drain, exhaustion or energy drain, immunity to anything required a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless).
Regeneration (Su): The Warbull can regenerate 5 points of nonlethal damage each round, all damage dealt to the artifact is considered nonlethal damage except for electrical attacks which are considered lethal damage, this ability is supernatural and not subject to a Constitution score.
Trample (Ex): As a full-round action, the artifact can move up to twice its speed and literally run over any opponents at least one size category smaller than itself, the trample delivers 2d6+12 points of bludgeoning damage, trampled opponents can attempt attacks of opportunity, but these take a -4 penalty. If they do not make attacks of opportunity, trampled opponents can attempt Reflex saves to take half damage. The save DC is 27.

Side Effects: Possession of the mighty Warbull of Keridwen causes a great strain upon the owner. The Warbull seems to actually drain the life force of the owner in order to maintain its power. The owner of the Warbull will lose 1 level of experience for each year the artifact is in her possession. The artifact will also permanently drain 2 points of Strength from the owner.

Suggested Means of Destruction: Send the Warbull to ram the impenatrable Gates of the Damned in the Underworld of the Gloomrealm. Feed the Warbull to Ienkanitrix, the Lord of Lightning Elementals on the Plane of Air.
