The Staff of Corruption

The Staff of Corruption is believed to have been developed centuries ago by the savants of the foul Order of the Maleficants, servants of the dark goddess Mordagh. These items are trully horrible to behold yet thankfully they are also quite rare due to the high cost to craft them. They should certainly never be handled by those who are pure of heart for the staff itself is said to be enfused with the essence of evil itself.

The Staff of Corruption appears as a gnaled walking staff about 5 or 6 feet in length made of dark ebony wood. The staves are always carved with graven images of demonic faces, horrific undead abominations and blasphemous runes of ancient evil. Often, the staff will be capped with a crystal of somekind, usually a black pearl or amethyst. The Staff of Corruption can be wielded as a weapon for it acts as a +1 unholy quarterstaff. It addition, the staff contains the following powers:

In addition to the above spell powers, the wielder of a Staff of Corruption may also use the item to cast a commune spell once/month to link to the Dreadmother herself. This power does not drain any charges from the staff. The Staff of Corruption is a wholly evil device. Any character of good alignment who willingly touches the staff suffers 1d4+1 points of unholy damage and a temporary -2 profane penalty on Charisma checks for 1 hour after touching the staff.
