It is generally believed by the wise that the origin of magic, both arcane and divine, began during the Dim Time, before the coming of the humanoids when only the mighty dragons ruled both the skies and the earth. It was these great beings that first used the power of magic as granted to them by the goddess Maya. The dragons in turn taught this lore to the first humanoids who in turn taught humankind.

What is not as widely known, however, is the very nature of magic. Magic is not a completely linear creation and can be fostered at different points of time and space. Such is the origin of what is generally referred to as the magic of the ancients. These forms of magic are believed to have their origin with the first of humanity, now long extinct, but who left evidence of their existance through the lore they left behind. One such lore is their manipulation of magic.

Ancient Humans were indeed both highly intelligent and exceptionally wise. So learned were they in the use of magical forces and the Essence Aura that they were able to develop new uses of spellcraft not as commonly used now as perhaps they once were.
