Ages ago, during the earliest years of the Age of Dragons, it is believed that a "supreme" race of humanity existed. Far blessed above all other races of humankind, this legendary race dwelled in peace and tranquility upon a lush island paradise somewhere in the heart of the Midland Ocean. These beings were skilled in the technology of science and seen as a potential threat against many of the dragon nobles of the age.

When the deities of evil succeeded in corrupted the hearts of many of the dragons, including their most powerful king, it was this race of humanity that sought the aid and counsel of all humanity as well as the various races of humanoids. This alliance of course is documented through Hyerunean history as the start of the Great Revolt which sadly lead to the destruction of the legendary race of humanity and their island home.

The capital city of this island known simply as Midlantis now serves as the imperial capital of a powerful and sprawling empire of the merfolk. These underwater creatures discovered many lost treasures within this once glorious city and used the technology of the ancients to increase the prosperity of their own domain.

Midlantis is home to the court of the Merfolk Empress and her entire entourage and is protected by a great number of powerful spells and devices. Merfolk knights riding atop enchanted seahorses guard these central waters from their age-old foes the sahuagin of the Cerulean Sea.
