The Isle of Wights is a small islet just of the island Kingdom of Galorand in the northern Midland Ocean. Long has this place served as a sacred burial site for the various royal houses and noble families as well as their most trusted servants. The island is sparse and dotted with numerous cairns and tombs.
Sadly, over the centuries, some evil force had come to dwell on this island and animate the undead spirits. Now, the Isle of Wights is aptly named for the place is a known haunt for wights, wraiths and all manner of corporeal undead. It is now completely abandoned by the Court of Galorand and avoided by all save for the most desparate treasure hunter.
In recent times, a sole living force has come to dwell here. He is known as Maldred of the Seven Deaths, a powerful necromancer who had been banished from his home on Galorand and came to the Isle of Wights to practice his foul art in private. With the aid of an undead following, Maldred constructed a great stronghold on the Isle of Wights which serves as the wizard's citadel. The place is known as the Temple of the Seven Deaths and is said to contain powerful undead horrors beyond description.
The intelligent undead of the Isle of Wights tend to remain within their barrow mounds and leave the necromancer to his own devices mainly out of fear of his tremendous power but also to avoid becoming enslaved by his magic. Many of thess undead creatures are the remains of once powerful nobles from Galorand who continue to guard a king's ransom in treasure from any who would dare to profane this unhallowed ground.
