Huantar, whose name means 'Land of the Huan,' is a water-based autocracy long ruled by a powerful king. Much of the land is centered around the intricate system of aqueducts, waterways, canals and irrigation ditches that crisscross the countryside making the land very fertile and excellent for farming and agriculture. The land is hot and wet all year round and much of the northern provinces are filled with a wide variety of tropical plants.
Huantar as a whole is devoted to many of the water deities. The cult of Shastra is particularly strong as is the faith of Yoruba, goddess of rivers, who serves as the patron goddess of the capital city of Nagara. The king and queen rule from a fabulous palace of carved stone in the capital city. The palace is surrounded by multiple pristine pools, canals and a wide moat. Many of the citizenry rever the creatures known as nagas, serpentine monsters often associated with the water. Many of the larger waterways are under the domain of several powerful nagas and the peasants see these creatures as spirits of the country. It is widely believed by the commonfolk that without the presence and blessings of these creatures, the land would dry up and become a barren desert.
Rumors: the current crown prince to the throne of Huantar is said to be a great disappointment to the King. The prince is known to be an intellectual weakling and morally corrupt. The king is deeply worried what will become of his beloved country when his son eventually succeeds him. A mysterious, yet growing, cult dedicated to the Typhoon Dragon has been gaining influence within the capital city.
