Dhargoth the Deathbringer is perhaps the most powerful enemy on the World of Hyerune and he rules his small domain with heartless abandon. Although the majority of the population of Mordregion are still living beings, most of them are so oppressed and fearful that they have completing given up all hope of ever escaping their lot in life or else decided to join the lich's cause themselves.

As a powerful undead figure as well as a priest of the death god, Dhargoth is constantly surrounded by numerous undead sycophants, guards and courtesans. His leadership ability and forceful personality more than ensure these beings complete loyalty, particularly when he is in view. Therefore, any potential assassins or enemies would find it necessary to battle their way through a number of lesser creatures before even hoping to engage in the Lich-Lord himself.

Description: Dhargoth the Deathbringer is truly a frightful presence. He is a male lich standing 6'3" in height and weighing 185 pounds. He typically wears flowing robes of dark red, purple and black. His skin is dessicated and the color of light-colored ash. His eyes blaze with a greenish fire and his hair is thinning and jet black. He often wears a silvered crown studded with amethysts and rubies as well as numerous pieces of silver and gold jewelry. His magical morningstar hangs through a leather strap from his black belt.

Personality: Dhargoth is a selfish and evil entity, the epitome of Neutral evil. He is cunning and resourceful with a meglomaniacal personality. The Lich-Lord is so powerful that he truly believes himself to be the most mighty individual on the planet and therefore tends to be quite aggressive in his actions since he has little to fear from most opponents. He is certainly no fool, however, and will lash out with his most powerful attacks if any creature should dare to oppose his will. Dhargoth expects the utmost loyalty from his followers and will disintegrate any who displease him.

Combat:
As stated above, Dhargoth will generally be surrounded by a number of allies whom he will command to engage any enemy while he remains at a distant striking out with his spells. His first action will always be casting his divine interdiction thus protecting him from the off chance that a powerful cleric tries to turn him. If undead soldiers number in his retinue, he will likewise cast a desecrate to make it harder for them to be turned as well.

Following this, Dhargoth wastes no time in disposing of his enemies. If an opponent proves to be particularly resourceful, he will target the most powerful with a finger of death while enemy spellcasters will be targeted by his feeblemind. In the enemy fights in formation, he will cast a quickened black tentacles over them followed by freezing fog. Powerful fighter types or leaders of an enemy force will be surprised with a backbiter spell and perhaps an avasculate, crushing hand or shadow binding. The Lich-Lord often enjoys casting his bloodstar at the beginning of a major confrontation and watch with joyful abandon as his opponents grow weaker by the round.

Since most opponents will find that they are no match for the undead lord, Dhargoth often enjoys toying with them as a cat plays with its prey shorting before killing it. He will target a wizard or cleric with a sensory deprivation while casting charm person on an enemy fighter. Phantasmal Assailants will be called forth to flank an enemy while Dhargoth will then cast his silent dimension door to appear at the rear of an enemy formation and strike with his paralyzing touch or corrosive grasp.

If an enemy attempts to flee, he will not let them go easily as payment for such a brazen act as daring to attack him in the first place. Dhargoth will attempt to cut off an escape route with a spiritwall and then hurl a bestow curse on the most powerful member of the party. If an enemy strikes him as proving particulary resourceful or ingenious in their methods, he will try to remove the most powerful of them with an imprisonment while his antimagic ray takes care of the spellcasters.
