Description: Dethar Ashbearer is a middle-aged human male of Aldari-Jendi descent. He has a thin build, unkept red hair and scruffy facial hair on his chin. His fingers are long and gnarled and his eyes are black. Dethar stands 6'1 high and weighs 145 pounds. He is 49 years of age.
Personality Profile: Dethar is a tempermental wizard and not to be dealt with lightly. He is rather hot-tempered, especially if frustrated, and somewhat bookish. He has a hard time relating to others unless they share his passion with fire magic and the Elemental Plane of Fire. Otherwise, he can be quite volatile in nature and certainly dangerous.
Background: Dethar was born in the Prelacy of Helacar almost half a century ago to the household of a minor cleric of Anarya. The fifth child out of seven, Dethar was never expected to amount much and would not be expected to enter the Anaryan clergy since that priviledge was reserved for his elder brother. Dethar did take a great fascination in the Anaryan faith and the power that elemental fire represented.
By the time he was a teenager, Dethar showed some promise as a wizard and was therefore sent off for study at the Imperial College of Magecraft at Primus. Although a fast learner and skilled magician, his propensity for anger made him a difficult student and he was eventually expelled for burning down one of the alchemical labs with one of his fiery spells. Dethar's parents by this time were embarrassed by their son's behavior and refused to support his education if he continued to squandor it. The young mage found himself travelling from wizard to wizard learning what he could as an appretice until he ended up in distant Shalizan, the capital city of Shafaria. Here he managed to contain his emotions long enough to enroll in the Elemental Academy and finish his arcane training.
Dethar made somewhat of a name for himself as the court mage for a minor Shafarian nobleman in the city of Maghreb. This nobleman had a great fascination with the fire genies known as efreet and so was willing to put up with Ashbearer's multiple tirades in exchange for the fire wizard's knowledge of the planes and ability to conjure forth multiple fire creatures.
Dethar's luck would change however when it was reported that his noble sponsor was found burnt to death in his private chambers. Dethar was charged with the crime forcing the mage to escape with his life in order to avoid Shafarian jurisprudence. In truth, Dethar had nothing to do with his sponsor's death but realized he could never prove it and so decided to return to his homeland with what wealth he accummulated.
Ashbearer now dwells in a high tower of stone and basalt in the northern provinces of Helacar, near the southern borders of Eidolon.
