The Beholder Twins of the Sunscape Mountains
The Southern Provinces of the Duchy of Sutherlin, a former feifdom of the Meridian Empire, are dominated by a small and rocky mountain range known as the Sunscape Mountains. This untamed wilderness has never been completely under the control of the reigning noble houses of Sutherlin and are home to a number of creatures such as orcs, ogres and even a blue dragon.
Recent events however have set up a hidden danger to the very security of the duchy. Deep beneath these mountains was the location of a formidable beholder empire ruled by one of the most egocentric and sadistic beholders who ruled over a vast slave empire for centuries. A few years past, a serious blow was dealt to this domain when the slave races organized a massive revolt against their eye tyrant oppressors. The violence and conflict that resulted lead to a collapse of the main cavern killing the beloved mother orb.
Two of the mother orb's children, a twin brother and sister, survived the catastrophe and ventured closer toward the alien surface world. These young beholders now desire to rebuild their once glorious empire vowing to learn from the mistakes of the past.
Xksedik (LE male beholder) and his sister Ydzharia (LE female beholder) are known as experts in the field of human physiology and use both this science and their magic in an effort to breed a race of perfectly submission thralls. The beholders currently have a number of charmed spies located throughout the Duchy of Sutherlin gathering information and logistics needed for their long term plans. The twins also seek to prevent any further slave revoles by using a sophisticated indoctrination and brainwashing to sow fear and distrust among the growing slave population. When a slave is found to exhibit too much aggression or initiative, that hapless individual is soon lobotomized by Ydzharia herself.
The Ducal Court knows nothing of these recent events for if the Duchess was aware, she would truly have something to be concerned about.
