The once powerful Empire of Brynthia is sadly now a waning force on the continent of Dawynia. The previous emperors once held most of the northern portion of the continent under their dominion from the Midland Ocean on the west to the Endless Ocean on the east. Now they barely control a third of that territory. Only Brynthia itself, Kadril, Jarandis and the Border Isles, to a limited extent, remain loyal to the Imperial Crown.

Brynthia is known for its high level of lawfulness and its devotion to the concepts of law and order. Its history is one known for developing a complex judicial code originally laid out centuries ago by Emperor Xenovar. The famous "Stone Tablets of Wisdom" are proudly displayed in the Imperial Halls of Justice in the capital city of Tanis. These tablets were said to have been carved under the watchful eye of the Emperor himself and spell out the basics of the legal principles that have governed this land for centuries. Even the ruling family is not considered above the law and the legal system sets a system of standards for governance. The Emperor still controls the majority of power in the realm but even he must follow a number of imperial precedence.

The military of Brynthia known as the Imperial Legions still remain a force to be reckoned with. However, the increasing hordes of chaotic and violent humanoids to the east as well as the barbarians of the Horde Raiders have been slowly wrapping a noose around the empire. It is most likely only a matter of time before they tighten the knot all the way and plunge the entire northern continent in chaos and disorder. The recent emperors have also not helped with the situation since they have been far more concerned with the decorum and pagentry of state affairs rather than the promotion of justice under the law.
